Introducing Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is collaborative software designed for businesses and educational institutions, offering a teamwork solution. It is included in the Microsoft 365 (Office) office suite. Users can share and edit files within a team, even while on the move, thanks to the application. It also offers a messaging system enabling group conversations and private dialogues, in written, audio and video form.
The application can be downloaded free of charge, but requires a Microsoft 365 subscription (Office Business license) or a Microsoft Teams business or school subscription to access all professional features. However, since May 2021, Microsoft Teams has opened up and can be used free of charge in the family setting. Microsoft Teams offers a number of tools to its users to simplify the management of teamwork. You can create as many users as you need for your collaborators, with a limit of 500,000.
The instant messaging (or chat) module in Microsoft Teams enables each user to communicate with other users in pairs or groups, provided they have an Internet connection. This professional version of Microsoft's messaging system, called Skype, lets you mention participants or a team in chat to draw their attention to a specific point. A customizable notification system is integrated to focus on what's important, and important conversations can be saved for archiving. A search feature also makes it easy to find a specific moment in a conversation.
Microsoft Teams also offers the option of audio and video exchanges (in HD), making it possible to organize meetings and get-togethers, no matter where collaborators are located. Screen sharing is also supported. The application can blur the background to resolve visual concerns linked to users' locations. It is even possible to invite third parties to take part in meetings by providing them with a specific link.
